#Spring into #Action - Shake up your #Wellness Plan




I am always more motivated about whatever fitness or wellness program I am working when I have a team/friends/family working it with me.  That's what I love about social media - it is a way to have a support group no matter what.

I have a group of friends that work with me on wellness via Facebook - we all stay connected, and we post questions, ideas, support whenever we wish.  I try to post at least three to four times a week (recipes, workout ideas, tips from health experts...), but others in the group are awesome.  I have a friend who is doing four 5K runs this year with her family!  Another living in New York just purchased a bike for her main source of transportation, and is sharing her journey with all of us.

If you're interested in joining this great group, send me a message and I'll get you hooked up.  Or, you can start your own group (in person or via social media).  The purpose for me is to have someone who knows that I am on a journey and will check in on me to make sure I'm sticking with it, and I can do the same for them.

#InternationalDayOfHappiness

International Day Of Happiness

Today is the International Day of Happiness (yes, that's a thing).  What are you doing today, this weekend, or this month to increase your (and your family's) happiness quotient? 


Visit the International Day of Happiness website for some great ideas if you want inspiration.  They have great ideas, such as volunteering, exercising, playing... The image above features family fun and exercise - this is a great way to increase your happiness. 

Happy people are healthier people - so I strongly encourage you to find something fun to do, not just this weekend, but on an on-going basis.

Did you know, noticing your happiness will also increase your happiness?  There was a craze going around recently - #100happydays that was a challenge to be happy for 100 days in a row.  If you have not taken the challenge, I encourage you to try, it is a great experience.

#Taco Thursday - #Healthy #Meal

Taco salad was a big favorite in my house growing up.  It's really easy, and quick.  The actual salad ingredients changed a lot from salad to salad, the part that was always the same was the home-made taco salad dressing.  That was what really made the salad.

Salad:

  • Lettuce - green and/or red leaf with some iceberg mixed in if you like
  • You can also use cabbage red or green.  Or even broccoli slaw for some added crunch and nutrition.
  • Sweet onion - either red or texas sweet
  • Tomato
  • Black beans if you have then, or kidney if you wish (rinse the beans before adding them
  • Ground chicken, turkey, or LEAN beef - cooked with taco seasoning, or with cumin and garlic


Dressing:

  • 1 bunch cilantro, coarsely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1/2 jalapeno (or all of it if not too spicey)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • juice from one or two lemons
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 packet sweetener (splenda)
Prep:
Put all ingredients in a blender and give it a whirl.
