Why You Should Consider Increased Water as Part of Your Weight Loss Plan

by Thea Mangels
There have been resent studies which show that increased water as part of a dieting plan can increase weight loss, and increase the longevity of the loss. One trick most people will tell you, which is excellent for dieting is to drink at least one full glass of water before each meal. This will help you to feel more full before you begin eating, and allow you to consume fewer calories.

Many people are a little or a lot dehydrated, which slows our metabolism, and decreases the productivity of our digestive systems (making it much harder to lose weight). “’In my experience, most people are not aware of how much they’re drinking and are not drinking enough -- many, as little as half of what they need,’ says Amanda Carlson, RD, director of performance nutrition at Athletes’ Performance, which trains many world-class athletes” (“Water and Your Diet: Staying Slim and Regular With H2O”). You can improve your water consumption (and your awareness of your water consumption) with a tracker. Here are several for Apple and Android devices:

Water is not just good for weight loss – it also improves cellular health, and your complexion. It’s a good idea to ensure that you are consuming at least 8 glasses a day (which is the minimum recommendation).
